17th Annual Jazz in the Valley

Declutter (In a Big Way!)

untitledI recently moved to a new place, and most of my things came with me. The moving process gave me a much-needed opportunity to survey the things I own and decide if I wanted to keep them and bring them to the new place, or find a new home for them (which, yeah, includes the trash can in a few instances).

It was tough to decide what would stay and what would go, but one question helped me along the way:

If I was shopping right now, would I buy this?

Imagine you’re in a store, holding the object in your hand. Would you pay to bring it home? If so, then it’s an easy addition to the “keep” pile. If not, you have a little more fuel to help you decide it needs to find its way out of your home.

Southgate Middletown Welcomed Outdoor Pool with Festive Party on Saturday, July 16th

Southgate PoolSouthgate Middletown officially welcomed its sparkling outdoor pool and sundeck with a special Pool Party on a sunny Saturday afternoon last weekend.

Residents and potential renters alike joined for thee Pool Party which included tasty summer delights from a popular local ice cream truck.  Developer Sterling Properties hosted the festive event at the luxury rental community in Orange County, N.Y.

The pool is located adjacent to Southgate Middletown’s fully-equipped 3,251 square-foot clubhouse, which features a state-of-the-art fitness center with spin, cardio and weight equipment, furnished event lounge, shuffleboard table and media room with six 70” televisions.

Dutchess County Hot Air Balloon Festival

balloonfestwebheaderThe Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Hudson Valley Hot-Air Balloon Festival this July. They are expecting another great weekend with about 100 balloon launches between Friday and Sunday.

At Barton Orchards, afternoon launches will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Morning launches will be at 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Festival hours are Noon-10 p.m. on Friday, 5-7 a.m. and Noon-10 p.m. on Saturday, and 5-7 a.m. and Noon-7 p.m. on Sunday. Festival will include family activities, food and beverages, and live music. There will be a fireworks display Friday night and a Moon Glow on Saturday night. Admission to the morning launches is free. Admission to the afternoon festivals is $10 on Friday and Saturday in advance (a limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $12) and $5 on Sunday. Advance sale tickets are available, including an ALL ACCESS WEEKEND PASS at http://www.balloonfesthv.com. Tether Rides will be available for sale for CASH ONLY the weekend of the event. A limited number of Balloon Rides are available for advance purchase ONLY.
