Tall Ship Kalmar Nyckel in Kingston, NY August 3 – 12, 2018! The tall ship Kalmar Nyckel was a Dutch-built armed merchant ship famed for carrying Swedish settlers to North America in 1638, to establish the colony of New Sweden. The 141′ replica of the ship was launched in Wilmington, Delaware in 1997. The replica serves as a floating classroom and an inspirational platform for educational outreach, operated by the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation. During her visit to Kingston, NY, the Kalmar Nyckel will host deck tours, sailing trips and a lecture.
