Mega-Yoga Event at the Summer Solstice

get_on_your_mat_for_mental_health-1497295692-1576On June 21, Get On Your Mat For Mental Health returns to the Hudson Valley for what promises to be an inspiring and empowering event for the community. Hailed as “one of the world’s most inspiring mega-yoga events” by Well + Good, the event draws hundreds of participants.

Get On Your Mat For Mental Health kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with live performances by world music trio House of Waters and a yoga marketplace full of community partners, vendors and sponsors. Attendees can also strike their favorite yoga pose in a photo booth and join a social media awareness campaign, telling the world why they believe #MentalHealthMatters.

At 6:30 p.m., everyone will get on their mat for an hour-long class, suitable for all levels and ages, led by renowned teacher Beryl Bender Birch.

13th Annual Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain

For over thirteen years, Hunter Mountain has been the backdrop for Mountain Jam. Nestled in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, Mountain Jam is a three-day, multi-stage event, featuring approximately 40 bands on three stages. This year features headliners Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Steve Miller Band, and The String Cheese Incident along with Peter Frampton, The Head and the Heart, Gary Clark, Jr, Michael Franti & Spearhead, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, and so many more. Plus late night shows, activities for the kiddos, seminars, and other experiences throughout the festival. Join us on the mountain this June, and experience Mountain Jam!

There are also a few of our favorite Brooklyn vendors as well activities for children and family-friendly musical fare.

A Giant Tag Sale to benefit the Hudson Chorale will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 19 & 20 2017, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Rain or shine. This is NOT your typical neighborhood tag sale of used toys and children’s clothing. We receive both used and new donated items in a wide variety of categories: used and antique furniture, collectibles, jewelry, appliances, housewares, CD’s, DVD’s, books, toys, sports equipment, good used clothing and accessories, bed & bath, decorative art, etc. Location: 107 Bedford Road, Pleasantville (corner of Manville Rd/Route 117. To donate tax-deductible items, call (914) 714-0464.  Early Bird Friday 5/19 from 8:00 am – 9:00 am for $10.

All proceeds will benefit Hudson Chorale, the area’s largest not-for-profit community chorus, and will be used to cover the costs of having a full orchestra accompany the chorus for a performance of Mozart’s Requiem, along with other works, on June 2 and 4, 2017.  Weekly rehearsals are held at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, and singers come from throughout Westchester and surrounding counties.  The chorus performs a wide range of music featuring both traditional and contemporary composers.  See the website for complete concert, membership and audition details.  www.HudsonChorale.org.
